Experience
• November 6, 2012 – Paid student poll worker for the November 6, 2012 election.
• 2012 -- Internship with the California Democratic Party (CDP) in the months leading up to the November 6 general election. I called to inform voters about Propositions 30 and 32 two to three days a week. I was awarded a ticket to attend an Obama Rally in San Francisco to hear him speak. Total hours: 45
• 2012 –Two other students and I planned and organized a major school event at the Alameda Community Learning Center (ACLC), including multicultural activities, talent show, art show, poetry slam, costume contest, potluck, and open house. It featured an Indian themed photo booth and a henna booth. An estimated 300 people attended the event.
• 2012 – Volunteered at the SF State Greenhouse. Over the school year I obtained 30 hours at the greenhouse, I potted plants, planted native plants on a hill, learned about different native and exotic plants, and watered.
• 2012 – Save the Bay internship. With my Environmental science class, we participated in wetland cleanups 8 times throughout the year from 8am to 3 pm. We taught younger learners about the ecology of the wetlands and how to plant native plants  in rocky soil.
• 2011 – Organized a book drive to collect children’s books for Garfield Elementary School in Oakland, CA.  Went to bookstores asking for donations, set up bins in schools in Alameda to collect books. I collected 257 books and donated them to the school library.
• 2011 – Volunteered at La Escuelita Elementary School in the Oakland Unified School District, during summer school. All students were English learners, coming from Mexico, South America, Vietnam, and Cambodia. For four weeks at four hours a day, I helped them with their English, writing, and math. I also cleaned classrooms, distributed papers, assisted in monitoring the lunchroom, and helped the teacher with whatever I was asked to do.
• Summer 2010 and 2012 – Volunteered at Joaquin Miller Elementary School, Oakland Unified School District, during summer school. For five weeks at three- five hours a day, I Tutored children, helped teachers grade papers, cleaned classes, distributed papers, organized the library, monitored students on the playground during recess, and performed a waste audit.
• 2008 – Volunteered 70 hours for the Obama campaign, calling to solicit votes and precinct walking to distribute voter information to voters in Alameda, CA. I Received an award for outstanding service signed by Alameda City Councilman Rob Bonta.
Education
• Alameda Community Learning Center (ACLC), a charter school in the City of Alameda, CA.,  seventh through twelfth grades.  I entered my Senior Year with a 3.87 overall GPA.  I’ve been on the Honor Roll every year since sixth grade.
• 2009 – 2011 - Participated in the Young Entrepreneurs at Haas (YEAH) program at Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.  I learned business skills, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point programs, and public speaking skills. With a group of 5 other participants, we worked with businesses and performed two case study competitions with 6 competing teams. We derived a marketing plan for a medical technology company and Semifreddi’s Bakery. We spoke in front of 500 people and won and received an award for both competitions. 
• 2010 - 2012 - Took honors classes in Spanish 4, English, Biology, and Pre calculus.
• 2011 – 2012 – Saturday German School – German School of the East Bay at the Altenheim.
• 2010 – 2011 - Took classes at College of Alameda in German 1A and Intro to Physical Anthropology. And Magic Religion and Witchcraft is planned for Spring 2013.
